This unit is about health, safety and hygiene in the working environment and how your actions can have an effect on these things.
You will also be looking at the steps you can take to reduce the risks to yourself, clients and other therapists.

B1 Prepare and maintain salon treatment work areas
In this unit you will learn how to set up and maintain the work area for all beauty therapy treatments at level 1 and 2.
You will work alongside the level 2 therapists to assist them in getting ready for their clients, helping them during the treatments if needed and preparing the area for the next client.

BT2 Assist with facial treatments
You will learn how to carry out a facial treatment which will include cleansing, how to do a skin analysis and decide on skin types, using masks, toners and moisturisers. As well as learning the practical treatments we will teach you all about how the skin works and in what way your facial treatments can effect the skin. You will also learn about all the different types of products used in a facial treatment, what they do and why they are used.

N1 Assist with nail services
In this unit you will be learning all about manicures and pedicures and how they benefit the nails.
You will be taught how to carry out a basic manicure or pedicure treatments as well as the anatomy of the nail, the products and equipment used, the reasons and benefits of their use.

The information here will help you to learn about the skin and nails and be able to relate it to your practical work.

You will be learning how to use different make up products to apply a simple day make up to a variety of skin types.

Unit G3 Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
It is important to learn how to work together as a team to ensure the salon works smoothly and effeciently as well as providing a happy environment for both staff and clients.
